Abstract

As a developing nation, Pakistan faces numerous socio-economic challenges, ranging from unemployment to environmental degradation. Leveraging entrepreneurship and fostering innovation ecosystems are seen as essential strategies to address these challenges and pave the way for sustainable development. Through an extensive review of literature, this paper examines the theoretical foundations of entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems, and their role in fostering sustainable development. Drawing upon examples and case studies from Pakistan, the paper analyzes the current state of entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in the country, identifying key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Moreover, it explores the various initiatives, policies, and programs implemented by the government, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to support entrepreneurship and innovation. Furthermore, the paper discusses the importance of collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders to create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and innovation. Finally, based on the analysis, the paper provides recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems in fostering sustainable development in Pakistan.
