"Pakistan Research Letter" (PRL) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published research. This archiving policy outlines the procedures for ensuring that research published in PRL remains available for future generations of researchers and the public.
Scope:
This policy applies to all peer-reviewed research articles, reviews, and editorials published in PRL, in both print and online formats.
Archiving formats:
PRL maintains archives of its published content in multiple formats, including:
- Full-text PDFs: All published articles are archived in the original PDF format.
- XML: Metadata for each article is archived in a standard XML format for easy interoperability with other repositories.
- Portability: PRL utilizes open-source software and data formats to ensure continued accessibility even if specific technologies become obsolete.
Archiving locations:
- Internal repository: PRL maintains a secure internal repository for all archived content.
- External repositories: PRL deposits its metadata and PDFs in recognized national and international repositories, such as LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and DOAJ.
Accessibility:
- Open access: PRL encourages authors to deposit their accepted manuscripts in institutional repositories or on personal websites, subject to standard embargo periods and appropriate attribution.
- Long-term access: PRL is committed to ensuring long-term access to its content, even in the event of discontinuation of publication.
Author rights:
- Authors retain copyright of their published work, but grant PRL non-exclusive rights to publish and archive the work.
- Authors are encouraged to make their work openly accessible under a Creative Commons license.
